‘He was near my house’: Maya Jama reveals she feared for her safety thanks to a stalker who once snuck into an awards ceremony and pretended to be her brother to meet her
Love Island presenter Maya Jama revealed this week that she once feared for her safety after being harassed by a stalker.
Speaking to the Daily Star about the horrifying events, Maya, 28, revealed the stalker had once shown up at her house and even sneaked into an event pretending to be her brother just to meet her .
Maya said it happened in her early 20s and the obsessed fan texted her friend and roommate to say he was outside her house.

“He texted my friend who I was living with at the time and said, ‘I’m near your house,'” Maya explained.
She said she was at the International Somali Awards once when he walked in pretending to be her brother.
“I hugged him because I thought I’d already met him,” she said, noting that he’s acting creepy towards her.

Maya said she used to share more details about her location on social media but has since become smarter.
“After that I became more careful. It can happen to anyone,” she said.
Maya has been in the spotlight for years, presenting shows such as Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities, The Circle and Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star.

She’s also had high-profile relationships, including with rapper Stormzy and NBA star Ben Simmons.
She is now hosting the new season of Love Island after replacing Laura Whitmore.
It has been suggested that the producers plan to keep her on the show for a while as she is “a major TV force to be reckoned with now”.
Industry expert Jonathan Shalit commented, “Maya is simply amazing – a true star and a household name now.
“She nailed the role of Love Island presenter and showed herself to be an A-list global star.
“She’s a huge TV force to be reckoned with now.”
Meanwhile, a source added to the publication that the “electric” launch was stuff “a marketer’s dreams are made of” and will no doubt see plenty of people rushing to catch up with the ITV2 show.
