Married At First Sight’s Shannon Adams has revealed the selfish reason he made cruel remarks to his wife Caitlin McConville during Sunday night’s episode.
The 30-year-old personal trainer told Caitlin during an intimacy task Tuesday that she “didn’t look good to his eyes.”
During the commitment ceremony, relationship expert John Aiken asked Shannon, “Why did you feel the need to say all those things to Caitlin?”
“I don’t really have an answer for you… I just said it to hurt her. I’m really sorry I did that. I’m gutted,” he replied.
“I’m really sorry but I want to stay,” Shannon added, before announcing his decision to remain in the experiment.

John then asked, “Shannon, you don’t talk much sense. Why do you want to stay after the cruel treatment?’
“I don’t want to give up,” Shannon said.
“You’ve been 100 percent focused this week on giving up. It was obvious that you tried to push her away and hurt her at every opportunity. Why should we believe you now that you will change?’ asked John.
Shannon explained, “I have to listen to her and consider what she says. I really just want to add another week so we can finish it as friends.
“I would like to hug her but I would have to take baby steps and I don’t really think she would want that because I’m a monster.”

On Tuesday night’s episode, Shannon cruelly told Caitlin that she “didn’t look good to his eyes.”
After the eye gazing task, Caitlin felt that Shannon had “done a 180” and was “emotionally distant,” so she decided to confront him about it.
When she asked Shannon what had changed, he said: “You’re a good-looking girl, but not in my eyes.
“I thought you were going to come down that aisle and blow my mind completely.”
“I don’t really have an answer for you… I just said it to hurt her. I’m really sorry I did that. I’m gutted,” he replied
He then said that if Caitlin had courted him, he would have just broken things off with his ex.
At the moment, Caitlin was too “stunned” to react, but after processing it all, she burst into tears.
“I’m sick,” she called out to the cameras.
“This whole speech was about me not being good enough. I feel like I’m being ripped to pieces.’
He later said, “I’d love to hug her, but I’d have to take baby steps, but I don’t really think she would want that because I’m a monster.”
