time capsule

Troy Heller, the man who wrote the message and found it almost 38 years later, wrote this message when he was just 10 years old and put it in a Pepsi bottle to take with him into the Atlantic Ocean during a trip to Vero Beach, Florida to throw. with the intention that someone unknown will find your message. Troy was born in the state of Kentucky and there were no beaches to deliver the bottled message, so he awaited his journey to make his wish come true.

The bottle was found on November 13 last year on a beach called Sebastian, also in Florida, about 20 kilometers from where it was dumped into the sea 37 years ago.

“I just thought I’d throw it in the sea and see where it goes. It’s amazing that she’s finally found her way back,” Heller told American television.

The bottle was actually discovered by local teachers cleaning up the beach after Hurricane Nicole hit the area. Although the teachers found the bottle, they did not keep it and gave it to the Carrmax family.

“We feel really special that we found two wonderful teachers to pick up the trash after the hurricane,” said Katie Carrmax, who walked alongside the men.

After Katie opened the bottle, they read the message, which included Troy’s name, age, address and phone number at the time of writing. So she set out to find the author of it, because at the bottom of the letter, Troy wrote, “PS, whoever finds this, call or text me.”

Katie’s mission

Katie had a very difficult mission to find the author of the message, since the data found in the message was outdated. However, despite all the difficulties and the work of an internet detective, Katie managed to find Troy’s contact. Then they sent a photo of their letter in the bottle.

“As soon as I saw the photo, I remembered to write. I was surprised the bottle didn’t break,” Troy said.

After the contact, Katie mailed the bottled message to her owner, which was framed once it arrived. Attached to the paper was a photo from the day he threw the bottle into the sea when he was a child.
