Madonna’s Unlikeliest Collaboration, Demi Driving Her Freak, and More: Her Weekly Bop Roundup – Queerty

Madonnas Unlikeliest Collaboration Demi Driving Her Freak and More Her

“Never broadcast to know who the song bops for; it bounces for you.” – Ernest Hemingway, sort of

Happy weekend everyone! It’s been a wild week of crossovers and team-ups: Queerty and Loretta Devine, Kari Lake and Ron DeSantis, Andrew Garfield and the collective gay thirst, etc.

Art, of course, mimics life, so know we’ve only put out the hottest music collaborations this week.

Here’s your weekly bop roundup, from giving it all to Madge to a country boy roll call:

“FREAK” by Demi Lovato and YUNGBLUD

Demi has finally released her new album HOLY FVCK and it starts with a sloppy queer collaboration. “Parents” singer Yungblud is a perfect match for Demi’s new, rockier sound. If people didn’t treat “pop punk” like a dirty word, it would feel appropriate, but let’s call it Garage-Lite. This song has so far been overshadowed by another track on the album, “29,” which has Demi’s age-inappropriate ex in hot water. Hopefully fans can at least enjoy this jam in the background while they tweet it.

‘Give me all your love’ [Party Rock Remix] – 2022 Remaster” by Madonna feat. LMFAO & Nicki Minaj

We FINALLY have the full version of “Finally Enough Love,” featuring all fifty of her #1 dance hits. This track isn’t exactly considered classic Madonna, but now that the original is officially a decade old, that may need to change. It’s such an unlikely bunch of people that it almost hits in a “it’s so crazy, it might just work” kind of way. The cheerleading reprise of “LUV Madonna!” WILL stick in your head, but that’s part of the charm.

“LFG” by Alex Chapman feat Chloe Angelides

“LFG” stands for “Let’s [Expletive] Go,” and that’s exactly the mood this bop puts you in when it really ramps up. Angelides’ lines are guided through that simply hyper-poppy adjacent vocoding that so specifically catches the ear, and Chapman’s music keeps you moving with them. And sorry, but have you seen Alex Chapman’s thirst traps? Not badass, but LFG.

“Motions” by Dave Aude & ZEE MACHINE

Well, THIS is exemplary dance-pop. If you’ve searched for “dance pop” on Wikipedia, that should cause it to autoplay as if it were a gay club’s personal MySpace page. Dave Audé and Zee Machine instantly form one of those producer/singer couples begging to be replicated again ASAP.

“Country Boy Two-Step” by Cameron Hawthorn and Bright Light Bright Light

Gay cowboy phenom Cameron Hawthorn is welcome to hit the road over here. This little country snake through Hawthorn’s Little Black Book is both lyrically and danceably fun, and the production clocks eleven. Go straight from a driving club beat to a stomp clap? That’s culture, right there.

Join us back here next week for another bop roundup!
