Bad news for Madonna: The much-discussed biopic starring Julia Garner has been canceled, according to Variety. Despite the Queen of Pop’s efforts in writing the screenplay, the project would have faded.

Announced in 2020 as soon as the Madame X Tourthe biopic about the Queen of Pop had one complex processing already in the pre-production phase. In fact, the realization of the screenplay lasted two years, during which time Madonna was involved in the elaboration of as many drafts. A first version also included the Oscar winner Diablo CodyWinner of the statuette in 2008 thanks Juno, for Best Original Screenplay. The writer then abandoned the project due to creative differences and took over from her Erin Cressida Wilson. Now, however, everything seems nuanced.

The biopic would have covered a long stretch of Madonna’s career, but sadly for fans, it now appears to have been shelved. At least for now. Though the feature film is no longer in development, the decision doesn’t seem irreversible. In fact, the project only seems to have been put on hold because of the upcoming musical tour.
The Celebration Tour, continues to enjoy great public success. Thanks to the incredible demand, in addition to the numerous Appointments sold out in minutesnew stops have been added (including one more in Milan, e.g a total of two Italian dates). Nevertheless, Madonna’s film career has to accept this further setback, although it was to be expected.
