‘London will crumble to dust’: Putin’s TV propagandist slams Ukraine’s use of British missiles

Vladimir Putin’s top TV propagandist has called for London to be “turned to dust” after reports said Ukraine was “ready” to use British missiles to attack Crimea.

The latest verbal tirade against the UK was featured in a nightly show on Kanal Russia 1, hosted by chief propagandist Vladimir Solovyov.

One of Solovyov’s “analysts” directly quoted a report in which he wrote: “Give them hell” regarding the possibility of the British government supplying Kyiv with Harpoon anti-ship missiles or surface-to-air Storm shadow missiles.

Ukraine could use such weapons to penetrate deep into Russian-held Crimea, potentially causing a major escalation in the conflict.

“The British press is saying, ‘We’re going to give them hell!'” Solovyov’s analysts said, pointing to the report. “You are us [Russians]’ he said.

The recent verbal tirade against the UK was featured in a nightly show on Kanal Russia 1, hosted by chief propagandist Vladimir Solovyov (above right). He is usually assisted by a multitude of “experts” and “analysts” parroting Russian pro-war propaganda

“They all consider this to be perfectly fine. “Russians can and must be killed!” They say that all the time,” he claimed, without mentioning that Solovyov’s television programs have regularly called for the bombing of Britain and other Western allies of Ukraine.

“That’s the problem with the Russians. They won’t give up easily,” Solovyov interjected. The camera cut to the presenter of the show.

“London is turning to dust! To dust!’ he said, staring wide-eyed straight at the camera while bizarrely raising his arm and open hand in front of him – as if to present himself as an evil wizard – in an apparent attempt at a joke.

“Or should I say it in English,” he asks his guests. “Burn in hell,” he says in English. “That’s better, yes? Good,” he asks in Russian before saying “Flames!” in English.

The latest diatribe on Russian television came after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held talks with Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelenskyy over Britain’s ability to supply long-range missiles to Kiev, which it currently lacks.

The prime minister said these would “make a big difference” in Ukraine’s fight against the Russian invasion.

It is now up for debate whether they should include Harpoon missiles (with a range of up to 150 miles) or Storm Shadow missiles (350 miles).

Such capabilities would allow Ukraine to strike deep behind enemy lines and would be a blow to Moscow’s hopes of launching a new assault to conquer the country.

Zelenskyy on Thursday called for a rapid supply of modern weapons to his armed forces and said Russia’s new offensive has already begun.

He also ruled out giving up Ukrainian land as part of a peace deal with Russia.

“Russian attacks are already coming from multiple directions,” he told the BBC.

“Of course, modern weapons hasten peace. Weapons are the only language Russia understands,” he said. NATO allies – including Britain, Germany and the US – recently promised to send main battle tanks to Ukraine.

While these will help defend against the coming offensive, Kiev is also relying on long-range missiles and warplanes to increase its firepower.

In his late-night address, Ukraine’s leader said his priority was repelling Russian attacks and preparing for an eventual Ukrainian counter-offensive.

“Keeping the situation at the front line and preparing for enemy escalation steps – that is the priority for the near future,” he said.

The overnight clip of Solovyov wasn’t the first time he had called for bombing London, having done so just last weekend.

“Can’t we finally attack London? What is the problem?’ the presenter asked viewers of his Solovyov live show.

“No, no, no – only for military purposes,” he continued, as if in response to someone questioning his proposal. ‘Well, in Parliament too,’ he added.

“Now, you [Britain] will be planes [to Ukraine] to penetrate deep into Russia’s territory,’ he added, as if to justify the attack on London.

Solovyov went on to say that Britain – along with almost all UN members – recognizes Crimea as part of Ukraine and not Russia.

After an internationally unrecognized referendum held during the occupation of Crimea suggested that the Russian-backed peninsula was part of Russia, the Russian-backed parliament declared Crimea independent from Ukraine.

Russia then illegally annexed the area in 2014. This step was widely condemned by the international community at the time.

Solovyov said: “At the same time she [Britain] smartly saying, “No, well, we just don’t recognize Crimea as Russia.” How about Kaliningrad?’ he asked rhetorically.

“What do you want to tell us? That is, you will now determine what Russia is for you? Not the people living in Russia will decide, no referendum, no vote, but you will determine what Russia is for us?

“In that case we won’t realize at all – for us there is no England at all. No France. No Germany.

“Instead there are Nazi states, united by hatred of everything Russian,” he said, echoing false claims by the Kremlin that Ukraine and its Western allies were ruled by Nazi governments. ‘

“So let’s get serious. Do you think there are no red lines?

‘OK. Well, let’s show them there are no more red lines,’ he demanded.

“Let’s go on strike! So that the first one rang. So that the Nazi fucks [Emmanuel] Macron to [German chancellor Olaf] Scholz, off [German defence minister Boris] Pistorius to Rishi Sunak, her testicles would contract and fall out of her ears in fear.

“Maybe they’re starting to understand something,” he said, finishing the monologue.

Hosts on Russia 1 have made numerous threats against Ukraine’s western allies, with particular interest in Britain and London.

Last year, one of the channel’s so-called “experts” said that Russia should detonate a nuclear bomb off the coast of the UK and cause a nuclear tsunami.
