Home-Away star Lincoln Younes insists he plays a ‘fictionalized’ version of nightclub owner John Ibrahim in Last King of the Cross: ‘It’s not a biopic’
Lincoln Younes plays John Ibrahim in the highly anticipated biopic Last King of the Cross.
But the 30-year-old actor insists he’s only playing a “fictionalized” character and not the infamous nightclub owner himself.
“It’s not a biopic, I’m not playing it. There was an essence from his memoir that inspired the show,” the former Home and Away star told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“John as a person is enigmatic, charming, charismatic, ambitious and perfectionist,” he explains.
“And John, the character, is mysterious, charismatic, intense, inward, and the last bit would probably be fleeting.”
The 10-part series will tell the story of brothers John and Sam Ibrahim, who are prominent figures in Kings Cross’ nightclub district.

It is based on Last King of the Cross, John Ibrahim’s best-selling autobiography of 2017.
The series explores key events in John’s life, including surviving a near-fatal stabbing and other attempts on his life.
Lincoln told Stellar magazine he researched the nightclub’s owner and even visited his home to learn more about him before filming the series.

“I’m not impersonating him,” he said of the biopic.
“There is an essence I wanted to capture, the loneliness of being an immigrant, of being successful, of paving a path that had never been walked before,” he added.
John has also praised Lincoln’s performance, saying it was “difficult to see” watching some scenes, adding that he portrayed him “extremely well”.
Last King of the Cross has a budget of $50 million and will stream worldwide exclusively on Paramount+.
