Amid rumors of a possible postponement of the first day of the tournament, Liga 1 confirms that it has held an important meeting with the Peruvian National Police to organize the games for the first opening date this weekend. According to the organization’s statement, the state of emergency declared in Lima and other provinces of the country will not be an obstacle to the implementation of the previously planned commitments.
“The Professional Soccer League (LFP) informs the public that today an important coordination meeting took place with the Peruvian National Police to organize the soccer matches of the Betsson 2023 League 1 that will take place this weekend in the city of Lima,” it reads in the first part of the text.
Likewise, the statement indicates that the security forces guarantee that there are no risks to celebrate the games, which will take place from Saturday 21 to Monday 23.
“There is no risk in holding these games and the games that follow, always with constant communication and with a schedule that allows them to ensure the safety of all spectators,” they said.
