Eight years in prison for Mustafa Minte Lamin, the 33-year-old Gambian accused of giving drugs to actor Libero De Rienzo, who died of a heroin overdose at his home in the Madonna del Riposo area on July 15, 2021 Capital city. That is the verdict of the monocratic judge of Rome. The dealer was convicted specifically of possessing and supplying drugs to the actor and others on July 14, and was instead acquitted of the death penalty on another felony.
Prosecutor Francesco Minisci, holder of the file on the actor’s death, had sought a total sentence of 13 years: 9 years for possession and sale of the drug and 4 years for being accused of death as a result of another offence. The investigation was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Operations Unit of the Compagnia di Roma San Pietro.
“On July 14, Mustafa Minte Lamin sold the heroin to Libero De Rienzo: there is unquestionable confirmation of the sale given the drug found in the actor’s house,” explained the prosecutor, who during the indictment used the printouts to reconstruct the last contacts and the meeting where the drug was bought. “The sale of drugs on July 14, 2021 is just the latest in a series of previous sales, in fact Lamin knew De Rienzo’s address from before,” the judge explained, underscoring how Lamin “sold toxic and impure heroin that caused death caused event. Libero De Rienzo was healthy and died from the drugs he was taking”.
