He beat Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 34-year record amid a stunning performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder last Tuesday in Los Angeles.

James went into the game against OKC needing 36 points to surpass the record of 38,387 set by Abdul-Jabbar in 1989.

The 38-year-old claimed the record with 10.9 seconds remaining in the third quarter with a signature fadeaway dagger. He finished the tournament with 38 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a 133-130 loss.

After the record-breaking shot, James walked away with his hands raised before being ambushed by teammates and eventually his sons, Bronny and Bryce, along with his wife Savannah.

Celebrities, corporations and apparently millions paid tribute to James, who was visibly emotional while celebrating with family and especially before and during the ceremony with NBA Commissioner Silver and Abdul-Jabbar.

LeBron, you are the all-time all-time scorer in the NBA. Congratulations!’ Said Silver as MVP chants ensued.

“I just want to say thank you to the Laker faithful, you guys are one of a kind,” James said.

“To be in the presence of such a great legend as Kareem means so much to me, it’s very humbling. Please give the captain a standing ovation.

“For my beautiful wife, my daughter, my two boys, my friends, my boys, my family, my mother. Man everyone who has been on this run with me for the last 20+ years. I just want to say thank you so much because I wouldn’t be me without you guys.

“All of your help, all of your passion, all of your sacrifices have helped me get to this point. And the NBA, Adam Silver, the late great David Stern, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of something I’ve always dreamed of.

“Never in a million years could I have dreamed of this better than what it is tonight. F*** man thanks guys,” he finished.

An ankle injury has kept James away from the three Lakers games that have followed his performance.

His team sits 13th in Western Conference standings with an overwhelming 26-3 record.

The Lakers are back in action Wednesday night when they play the New Orleans Pelicans.
