Leaders of Al Aqsa Brigades killed in attack

Israel killed a senior member of the Al-Aqsa Brigades in a military operation in the West Bank. Ibrahim al-Nablusi was responsible for a series of attacks on Israeli soldiers in the area, Israeli domestic intelligence service Shin Bet and the military said on Tuesday. Explosives and other weapons were also found during the arrest attempt. Another member was also killed.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death of Al-Nablusi and two others. About 40 people were injured by gunfire during the operation. It is feared that Al-Nablusi’s assassination could lead to further clashes.

The Al-Aqsa Brigades are the military wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement. However, it is a loose network with no clear hierarchy, local groups often act on their own.

After three days of fighting, a ceasefire took effect on Sunday between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military launched the “Dawn” military action on Friday with air strikes against jihad in the Gaza Strip. Two jihadist military chiefs were killed during the operation. Since Friday, Palestinian militants have fired more than 1,000 rockets into Israeli cities, according to the military. 200 of them hit the Gaza Strip.

The anti-jihad operation in Gaza is a continuation of a campaign in the West Bank that has been going on for months. Since a wave of terror in Israel in the spring, the army has been carrying out more counter-terror operations there.
