Félix Auger-Aliassime will once again represent Canada at the Laver Cup in Vancouver from September 22-24, it was announced on Thursday. He will try to help the world team retain their title.

“FAA” played in London last year with two crucial wins on the final day of Activities Heroes, including one at the expense of Novak Djokovic. This time he is taking on Europe in front of his compatriots.

“I am really looking forward to being part of the Laver Cup again. We had a great time in London last year, commented ‘FAA’, according to the event’s official website. Vancouver is such a beautiful city, it’s going to be a very special experience for me.”

The Quebecer pointed out that his successes at the Laver Cup were very important for his development. And with good reason: in the weeks following his participation, he won three consecutive tournaments.

“The Laver Cup was a real boost for my confidence,” said Auger-Aliassime. I was very comfortable with my game back then and then I played a number of indoor tournaments under similar conditions where I felt like I could win a lot of games.

Happy

Last September, Team World won the Laver Cup for the first time after Team Europe had won all four previous encounters. The captain of the world team, John McEnroe, is therefore very happy to be able to count again on Auger-Aliassime, the seventh racket in the world.

“The Laver Cup is one of the best things that has happened in tennis in the last 20 years. That had a huge impact on the sport and was a great success,” said the 53-year-old.

“We have great players on the world side, starting with Felix who helped us win in London. He had a great season last year and continued on to a winning streak after the Laver Cup. It’s great to find him.”
