According to information from the SQ, it is a police operation in connection with dangerous driving.

A Blainville police officer reportedly attempted to intercept a vehicle to check license plates. The police officer may have mentioned that the vehicle was reported to authorities as stolen.

The vehicle then fled and crashed into a concrete block at full speed. Around 6 p.m., the emergency services were called to the intersection of Boulevard Industriel and Rue Rolland-Brière.

As of late Sunday evening, SQ could not confirm how many people were in the vehicle.

Those involved in the accident are said to have sustained serious injuries.

The SQ’s mandate is to investigate the causes and circumstances surrounding this event, while the BEI’s role is to investigate police actions.

The SQ team for major crimes is in charge of the case, said SQ spokesman Nicolas Scholtus.
