Police evacuated the mall in a large-scale operation. Two people were injured. A suspect was arrested and the operation was closed.
Shots were fired at a shopping mall in the southern Swedish city of Malmo on Friday afternoon. Two people were injured, the Dagens Nyheter newspaper reported, citing police spokesman Jimmy Modin. A suspect was arrested. The executive, who according to his own statements was in action with a large contingent, evacuated the mall.
Police arrested the alleged shooter and ruled out a possible terrorist motive. It is believed to be an “isolated incident related to criminal groups”.
“Past Imminent Danger”
“We believe the immediate danger is over,” a police spokeswoman said. According to health authorities, the injured were a man and a woman. The woman’s condition is serious, she said.
Local media, citing eyewitnesses, reported that a man shot people indiscriminately at the Emporia mall. This has not been confirmed by the police.
In July, three people were killed in a gun attack at a shopping mall in the Danish capital Copenhagen, which is about 30 kilometers from Malmo.
