Kim Kardashian buys the famous necklace from Lady Diana

Kim Kardashian, an American celebrity from the world of reality shows, has today been awarded a historic jewel auctioned by Sotheby’s in London, the Atllah Cross, famous for an exorbitant amount compared to initial estimates – over £160,000 for once being worn by the late Princess Diana.
It is a cross pendant necklace set with amethysts and framed with 5.2 carat diamonds. It was designed by Garrard in the 1920s and has been worn around Lady D’s neck on more than one occasion: including at a gala organized in London in October 1987 in the Limelight to raise funds for a humanitarian organization campaigning for protecting women addresses the risks associated with pregnancy and childbirth. But it was never owned by Princes William and Harry’s late mother, to whom it has been loaned several times by his billionaire friend Naim Attallah, a naturalized Palestinian British businessman who bought it in the early 1980s.
The jewel, now put up for sale by Atallah’s heirs, has been quoted by the auction house at between £80,000 and £120,000. Kim Kardashian ended up owning it through her agents for £163,800, which is around €187,000 at today’s exchange rate.
