His comments section has been flooded with sweet messages from former co-stars, including Brecken Merrill, who portrays his grandson on the hit series Yellowstone.

“Happy Birthday to the coolest TV grandfather and legendary colleague a kid could have! I hope there’s cake on your plate tonight,” Merrill wrote under the post.

Though he didn’t reveal how he spent his birthday, the actor most likely spent time with his wife Christine and their sons Cayden, 15, Hayes, 13, and daughter Grace, 12.

In addition to his and Christine’s three children, Costner has daughters Annie, 38, Lily, 36, and son Joe, 34, with ex-wife Cindy Costner. And he has son Liam, 26, with ex Bridget Rooney.

In November, he spoke about being an “everyday family man” and loving his role as “provider” and “dad.”

“When I’m not making a film, I’m alive and I’m on the freeway with my wife, taking the kids to their stuff or waiting for them to get home from a party. I just roll with my thumbs. People have a misconception about how my life works,” he told People.

Costner also insisted he’s just “trying” to figure out parenthood like any other mom and dad.

“You have to get down on the floor and play with them,” he told the publication. “And you’re teaching them to be independent — and the sad thing is, they are becoming that.” I’m like any other parent: I’m trying to figure it out.’

Costner’s son Hayes will also be starring in his upcoming epic western series Horizon.

The actor revealed that he partially cast his son to continue his bond with him.

“I sort of did it on purpose so he could hang out with me. And same for Cayden, same for Grace. “This is really great. You should come with me,” he said.

Aside from parenthood, Costner has been busy with his showbiz career, with two projects making headlines.
