According to the Sportsnet network, the 25-year-old Finn will earn $2.75 million a year.
Drafted by the Minnesota Wild in 2014, Kähkönen waited five years to cross the Atlantic. However, the arrival of Marc-André Fleury during last season pushed him towards the exit. He ended up in San Jose this year with a fifth-round draft pick in exchange for defenseman Jacob Middleton.
After 11 games with the Sharks, he’s 2-6-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. In his career, he has a 33-23-5 record in 65 games, a 2.88 GAA and a .908 passing rate.
