Judd family friends confused over alleged rift over Naomis will

Judd family friends confused over alleged ‘rift’ over Naomi’s will

After it was revealed that Naomi Judd had appointed her widower as executor, numerous reports surfaced that her daughters Wynonna Judd and Ashley Judd had been “omitted” from the will.

Afterwards, the Chron even reported that Wynonna plans to appeal the decision. But sources close to the family told Page Six that they are baffled by the claims.

A source pointed out that just because Larry Strickland, her 33-year-old husband, has assumed responsibility for the $25 million legacy doesn’t mean their girls won’t be left anything.

“It is not known if other arrangements have been made [in the will]. They don’t know all the arrangements,” the source said.

They also said the daughters are close to Strickland, 76.

“He’s been in her life since the late ’70s – from a very early age. He’s no stranger,” they said.

“It’s easy for people to say, ‘There must be trouble,'” the source said. “[But] For people who were close to her, Larry was always there. They call him “Pops”. They all have adjacent farms.”

The source also pointed out that both women have their own net worth.

Naomi died by suicide on April 30th.

Undoubtedly there were quarrels among the women.

Wynonna confirmed this just last month when she performed at a Brandi Carlile concert. Wynonna joined her on stage and mentioned her “rough time of sadness” as “my mom has been gone for two months”.

“I’m the artist formerly known as ‘The Judds,'” she said, referring to the duo she formed with her mother. “My sister is here tonight and we’re the new Judds now and she’s backstage.”

“I’m a Judd, not a judge … Forgive me, call someone and say, ‘I’m sorry on my part. What can we do to heal?’” she told the crowd.

Wynonna then said, “We’ll do that tonight.”

“We’ve been very apart due to schedule and whatever you’re trying to say — family dysfunction, but we showed up tonight,” she said, before singing “Love is Alive,” dedicating it to Ashley.

“We’re going to sing this song in honor of my sister because it’s been about 12 years since she heard me sing and it’s the beginning of a new chapter,” she said.

Our source tells us Wynonna is “really honest and open.” And while they haven’t talked about the will, “if Ashley or Wynonna want to say something, they’ll work it out,” they said.
