Juan Reynoso’s mistake that almost cost the Peruvian team a win against Germany

The Peruvian team suffered a heavy defeat Germany 2-0 in an international match. In this duel, the bicolor did not show a good collective performance and the result could have been more difficult in favor of the Germans. The Blanquirroja’s poor showing was in large part due to some controversial decisions he made Juan Reinoso. Here we tell you what they were and analyze each of them.

The line of three defenders

against Germany, Juan Reinoso implements a new tactical system in the Peruvian team with a back three and two wingers on the wings. This is the first time the Bicolor has used this game model since the arrival of the National Strategist.

Testing this formation against a soccer powerhouse like the European team was a very high risk as playing with three defenders usually requires a longer working time. There was a lot of confusion at the back against the Germans, which was put to very good use by the rival strikers.

Tapia as a libero and Zambrano as a substitute

One of the biggest surprises of Juan Reinoso in the eleven holders of the Peruvian team against Germany was the presence of Renato Tapia as a libero as he is usually deployed as a containment midfielder.

Although the 27-year-old footballer has held this position before, it has happened on a case-by-case basis. This season he played only one duel as a defender in Spanish football.

In addition, the “cabezón” in the same sector has decided not to include it Carlo Zambrano in the starting eleven. He even only let him play for seven minutes. The ‘León’ is the highest ranking centre-back that the Bicolor has and his absence was noticed before the Germans, although he was responsible for giving orders to the Blanquirroja rear guard.

Insist on Raúl Ruidíaz

Faced with a physical ailment by Gianluca Lapadula, Juan Reinoso place chosen Raul Ruidíaz as a keeper in the Peruvian team against Germany. However, the striker’s performance was very poor and at no time troubled the Teutonic defence.

The ‘Cabezón’ coexisted with the ‘Flea’ right from the start, although its bicolor production has been very low in recent years. Already in the previous trial he was relegated from Ricardo Gareca and lost place to Alex Valera.

Likewise, for the game against the Europeans, the Blanquirroja needed an attacker with different qualities, able to put pressure on the rival, with the ability to rub up to win free-kicks and with greater physical strength.
