Joy Behar scoffed at the claim that Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter because he was a liberal

View host Joy Behar was mocked for claiming Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter because he was a famous liberal – and falsely claiming the prosecutor was a Republican.

Behar said Mary Carmack-Altwies was a “great Republican” and suggested the prosecutor was politically motivated because Baldwin was “a target for Republicans.” You can’t stand him.’

But Carmack-Altwies is actually a Democrat who took office in 2021. Prosecutors, who live in Sante Fe with her wife and two children, said Thursday they charged Baldwin because “he didn’t check it out [the loaded gun]he didn’t do what he was supposed to do to make sure he was safe or that anyone else was safe.’

Behar, 80, was ridiculed for her “delusional” claims on Friday’s show, which included defending Baldwin because as an actress, “everything you think about is your part.”

Prosecutors, who live in Sante Fe with her wife and two children, said Thursday they are charging Baldwin because “he didn’t investigate.” [the loaded gun]he didn’t do what he was supposed to do to make sure he was safe or that anyone else was safe.

“You’re not worried…I wasn’t worried about…my brassiere falling off me or whatever. Someone else has to take care of that. You’re interested in your lines, in your character,’ she said.

In response to Behar’s comments, political commentator Jim Treacher tweeted: “1. The DA is a Democrat, not a “big Republican” 2. Laws apply to Democrats, even famous ones 3. The other four producers didn’t pull the trigger 4. Joy Behar cares more about her friend’s reputation than the lives of Halyna Hutchins and their loved ones.’

Nicholas Fondacaro, director of the Media Research Center, said: “Joy Behar defends Alec Baldwin. She laments that no other producer has been charged. She claims he didn’t and shouldn’t have had to check the gun for live rounds.

Conservative pundit Brandon Morse tweeted, “Joy Behar’s take on the Alec Baldwin case is so delusional that her co-hosts can’t follow him.”

Prosecutors announced Thursday that Baldwin, 64, and gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 25, are being charged with involuntary manslaughter, 15 months after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was shot dead by the actor on the set of Rust in New Mexico.

Baldwin accidentally shot Hutchins after a live round landed in the gun he was wielding.

He and Gutierrez-Reed, who loaded the prop gun that killed Hutchins, face a maximum of 18 months in prison if convicted.

Dave Halls, the assistant director who gave Baldwin the firearm, has pleaded guilty to charges of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin appeared to have grown acquainted with Behar’s comments on Friday’s show, saying she “strongly agrees” with the charges.

“In the state of New Mexico, negligent homicide is accidentally killing someone through negligence. So negligence alone is the standard you have to meet,” she said.

“Every day guns are used in movies and processes and steps are taken,” she added.

Co-host Ana Navarro added that after the tragedy, other actors, including George Clooney, reported on gun safety and “most” would check their guns.

After a commercial break, Behar corrected her comment that Carmack-Altwies was a Republican.

‘Clarification [on] something I said in the last segment. It’s the special prosecutor [Andrea Reeb] who is now the Republican politician in New Mexico and not the current Attorney. I sometimes mix them up. So sue me,” Behar said.
