TV Globo journalists protest for better wages. Demonstrations are taking place in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. The station’s employees stood by in front of the station’s studios and promoted a twoandahalfhour work stop on Friday (19th) to demand a salary increase that is above inflation. The information comes from TV News.
GloboNews staff have supported the movement, which is backed by journalists’ unions in the capitals where the protests are taking place. They ask for a 10.75% raise, but the offer they get is only 7%. The amount is not considered a real increase by journalists. Other companies such as Record and SBT have already touted an adjustment above inflation.
Globo employees not only stood by idly, but also used an electric trio with unionists and journalists who spoke about the issue in the three capitals. Despite the hiatus, GloboNews and Globo TV newscasts did not change.
A meeting between Globo representatives and workers is scheduled to take place later this month.
