Joke bomb alert Copenhagen airport evacuated

Joke bomb alert: Copenhagen airport evacuated

Danish police were forced to evacuate Copenhagen Airport’s Terminal 2 after a man jokingly told security staff that he had a bomb in his suitcase. “The owner of the bag has been arrested and is accused of making threats,” police said at the end of the high-profile joke that blew up many passengers’ journeys.

The author of the joke gone wrong is a coach of the Swedish national handball team. According to the Sydsvenskan newspaper, the man in question is 29 years old and was immediately banned from the Sweden national team after the outcome of his prank became known. “He was fired and removed from all positions,” said Robert Wedberg, spokesman for the team.

Airport brawl: beating before flight

“We would like to point out that we should not joke about such things because we must act accordingly,” the Copenhagen police wrote on Twitter. In fact, the terminal was closed for about an hour because the police had to check the man’s luggage, which led to long queues after the airport in the Danish capital reopened.
