Johnny Mathis’ Hollywood Hills property hit by landslide but ‘no one was hurt’

Music legend Johnny Mathis’ Hollywood Hills home was facing a hillside collapse as a rep for the star revealed no one was injured and only minimal damage.

The landslide – which took place after a widespread storm in southern California – occurred seven years after the same house was destroyed in a fire.

A representative for Mathis told DailyMail.com exclusively that the slide was minor as they said: “Nobody was injured and so far, apart from the car, no other damage to the road or other property nearby.

‘Mr. Mathis was happy that no one was injured.”

The spokesman revealed that the incident took place on Tuesday, January 10, amid the severe storms that have been devastating California and that some debris fell on Mathis’ neighbor’s car.

The star is now hoping for a drier weather to address the issues, as the source told DailyMail.com: “We’re just waiting for the city to give permission to remove the dirt so we can start repairing the mound. Hopefully the lull in the storm will make repairs easier.”

According to KABC, the landslide exposed pipes and other parts of the home’s infrastructure, cutting off supplies.

The disaster happened on the 1400 block of Sunset Plaza in the Hollywood Hills, the channel reported, and it wasn’t immediately clear how the landslide affected the home’s stability.

A silver Jaguar parked in front of the home was covered and filled with mud and debris after the landslide, the station reported. A representative for Mathis told DailyMail.com the vehicle belonged to a neighbor.

The incident comes more than seven years after the same property was decimated by a fire in November 2015.

The fire destroyed all of Mathis’ property except for a few memorabilia.

More than 40 firefighters were deployed to put out the fire, which caused the roof of the house to collapse.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said at the time that there was “nothing left” of the home that was “absolutely destroyed.”

Mathis was returning to Los Angeles at the time after playing a show in Cleveland and told reporters at the time he was grateful no one was hurt in the fire.

“I’m fine, nobody got hurt — that’s always important — we can always substitute things,” he told the AP.
