Joel Creasey almost got arrested trying to leave the Meghan Markle event

The Australian radio presenter was “threatened with ARREST” for trying to leave a morning tea hosted by Meghan Markle after showing up five hours late

An Australian radio host was almost arrested trying to leave a formal event hosted by Meghan Markle when she was still a senior member of the royal family.

Comedian Joel Creasey opened up Monday morning about the surreal experience that happened to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa a few years ago.

He was invited to a youth leaders morning tea hosted by the Duchess of Sussex, 41, but became “bored” when she didn’t show up on time.

After waiting five hours for the former ‘Suits’ actress to arrive, he tried to exit quietly, but security told him he would be arrested if he left the premises.

“She was still a member of the royal family at the time and I went to a morning tea for youth leaders under 30. I just snuck in,” he explained.

“I think the invitation was for [fellow comedian] Josh Thomas and I took it. I went with her and she was five hours late.”

The 32-year-old continued: “She made a Madonna. I said, “Can I go? She’s not that important to me,” and the security said, “No, you can’t go.

‘And I’m like, ‘Wow.’ Turns out, leaving the royal family is easier than leaving one of their events! So we didn’t really get along.

Chron Australia has reached out to Buckingham Palace and a representative of Meghan Markle for comment.

Joel just presented his new stand-up special Queen of the Outback at the World Pride Mardi Gras 2023 Film Festival.

Queen of the Outback was filmed in front of a live audience at Broken Hill in far western NSW during the famous Broken Heel Festival last year.

“I’m like the Cameron Diaz of stand-up comedy,” Joel says in a preview of the special.

“I won’t win any awards, but we’ll have a good time.”
