EXCLUSIVE “Let’s bring the old bird back in!”: Jo Wood, 67, jokes that her appearance on the London Fashion Week runway came about because her designer friends “feel sorry for her”

Jo Wood has said she believes her friends cast her for their runway shows because they “feel sorry” for the “old bird”.

The television personality, 67, walked the runway during London Fashion Week earlier this year for the VIN + OMI show in a sheer babydoll dress.

Speaking to Web at the London premiere of The Last Heist, Jo said: “My friends, they’re running a sustainable fashion show and because I believe in everything they do, they use plastic to make materials and things like that.

“And they always ask me, I think they just feel sorry for me. So they keep asking me. The old bird. Let’s get the old bird back in.”

Jo added: “I love doing this. It is great. I’m doing this because it’s very important to do something you believe in.”

Earlier this year, Jo broke her ankle after accidentally falling down the stairs at her ex-husband Ronnie Wood’s home in Ireland.

The star joked at the time that she was “not drunk” and slipped while carrying her little nephew.

At the premiere, she said: “This is the first time in heels. Well kind of heels yeah so I’m like woohoo I got the all clear from the doctor yesterday. The bone has grown together. All is well.’

Career-wise, Jo added that she is currently working on a follow-up book to her 2019 work Stoned.

She said: “I’m working on my next book. I did Stoned in 2019 and now I’ve just started working on Too Stoned. Yes, all the pictures and little things from the past. So it’s good to put them all together in one book.

“Then you don’t have to worry and I can sling all the pictures out. So this is a picture book with all my old photos that I used to take on tour and it’s the second one so…”

When asked what it was like looking at all the photos over the past few years, Jo said: “It was hard… it was hard the first time. But this time it’s not that hard because I love looking at the pictures of the kids when they were little.’

“It’s like my story and it was great to watch and the other thing that was really difficult is that so many people died. Pull out another picture, “Ohh he’s dead, he’s dead, he’s dead.” It’s true. It’s pretty scary.’

Jo also spoke about the death of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, which she described as “wonderful”.

She said: “I love Charlie. He was just wonderful. Such a shame. I can’t believe I’ll never see him again. That’s life, isn’t it? I see him…I’ll see him in the next.’
