Jesse Williams reveals the downsides of playing a doctor in Grey’s Anatomy

Jesse Williams found that being a doctor on television had its downsides.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, the actor noted that he’s often credited with marrying Dr. Having played Jackson Avery in the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. He didn’t mind that people thought he knew about medicine unless he was… on a plane!

“I’ve been on a plane twice when (the crew) said, ‘Is there a doctor on board? Someone needs one’ and they looked at me. So I reply, “The only thing you know about me is that I’m not a doctor!” he explained.

Since leaving Grey’s Anatomy, Jesse Williams has appeared in the romantic comedy You’re in My House and Back Again and made his Broadway debut in the new version of Take Me Out. He will soon be appearing alongside Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short in the upcoming third season of Only Murders in the Building.

The comedian is looking forward to exploring the comedy. “It’s great to learn and experiment with, but I’m learning and trying to play with comedic stuff and lighter stuff. It’s a little bit more in my nature,” added Jesse Williams.
