Jennifer Lopez has confirmed that she was supposed to kiss Madonna during the steamy 2003 VMA performance, which saw pop icon Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera snogging.
The 53-year-old actress opened up about her plans to attend the iconic performance while promoting new movie Shotgun Wedding in a chat with E!News, saying, “I was shooting a movie in Canada and I met up with Madonna and Britney.
“And I couldn’t leave the movie, so they made Christina do it. I’m a big fan of Madonna, always have been.”

Shortly thereafter, Christina joined Britney on stage for the song, before Madonna showed up and launched her single “Hollywood.” During the performance, Madonna leaned in and kissed Britney.
In 2018, Christina – who posed for the kiss on stage – recalled feeling left out of the moment when she said her kiss with Madonna just moments later wasn’t shown.

Only the picture of Britney and Madonna aired during the broadcast, followed by a reaction shot of Britney’s former flame Justin Timberlake.
‘It was strange. And do you know why they cut off for it? Because they cut away to get Justin [Timberlake’s] reaction,” she said in a radio interview.
Christina went on to say that the manufactured drama was a “cheap shot” since Britney and Justin are no longer objects.
Andy then clarified, “I don’t think people really realize it’s her [Madonna] made out with you two that day.”
She confirmed the sentiment, recalling, “Yes, because I definitely saw the paper the next day and it was like, ‘Oh, well, I think I got left out of it.’
