Yesterday’s enemies aren’t yet the best of friends in the world, but relations between Ben Affleck’s ex-wife and current wife have improved significantly. “When it came time to get back together with Ben, Jennifer Lopez got off to a bad start with Jennifer Garner,” a source told Life&Style. Jen is a very caring mother and J.Lo has a strong personality and her own parenting methods. At first there were many tears, but they found a way to make peace. For a while, J.Lo let Ben handle things alone with Jen, who wanted to protect her kids, 17-year-old Violet, 14-year-old Seraphina, and 10-year-old Samuel, as much as possible. J.Lo quickly realized that if she was to start a unified blended family, she would have to take matters into her own hands. “Jen also thought it was a good idea that they both got together and had dinner together. They decided they had to make some rules,” the same source said.

Specifically, it was decided that Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel would call their mother every night when they weren’t with her, in addition to receiving therapy to “ease the transition.” Since that head-to-head, everything has been arranged between J.Lo and Jen, who don’t hesitate to poke fun at Ben Affleck together. “They laugh at his quirks, like his addiction to Dunkin’ Donuts, and they both try to get him to quit,” says the source. Evidence that reports have largely calmed down is that Ben and J.Lo have also dined with Jen and their sweetheart, John Miller, on several occasions, accompanied by the kids. “They even did karaoke all together!” credit the source.
