Jennifer Lawrence regrets not taking Adele’s career advice

She may have an Oscar under her belt, but things haven’t been smooth sailing for Jennifer Lawrence.

The 32-year-old actress has starred in some of the biggest films of the past decade, including starring in The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook and Don’t Look Up.

But the actress admitted to making some bad project decisions throughout her career, one of which was starring in the 2016 sci-fi film Passengers.

Alongside Chris Pratt, Lawrence quickly discovered that the film was nothing less than a box office bomb domestically, racking up endless negative reviews and scoring a miserable 30% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“I was like, ‘Oh no, you’re here because I’m here and I’m here because you’re here. Wait, who decided this was a good movie?’” she told the New York Times, before clarifying that Passengers made her feel that way.

The actress revealed the good advice, which she ultimately ignored from none other than singer Adele.

“Adele told me not to do it. She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies.’ I should have listened to her,” Lawrence said, adding, “Everything was like a rebound effect. I reacted instead of just acting.”

“I felt more like a celebrity than an actor, cut off from my creativity, my imagination,” Lawrence added.

The actress said last month she was suffering from burnout after landing the role of her life in The Hunger Games – and revealed she’s “lost control” of her career.

“I think I’ve lost that sense of control. Between coming out with The Hunger Games and winning the Oscar [for Silver Linings Playbook]’ she told Variety. “I became such a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision.”
