Among the victims, currently seven, is a 5-year-old girl. Tayasir Jabari, commander of Islamic Jihad in northern Gaza, and Salame Abed, also a jihadist, were also killed.

Operation “Breaking Dawn” –

According to aviation sources, Israel also hit a target at Khan Yunes in the southern strip. An Islamic Jihad post was hit in Beit Kahya in northern Gaza as part of the so-called “Breaking Dawn” operation, a definition meaning “the dawn of a new day.” The military spokesman said so, adding that “a special alert” was declared on the country’s home front. The Iron Dome missile defense system has been deployed to cover up to 80 kilometers inside Israel, in an area that also includes Tel Aviv and Modin.

The affected apartment –

The affected apartment in the Bourj Falastin building belongs to Islamic Jihad, according to local sources. Some activists were inside at the time of the attack, although their fate is not yet clear. Meanwhile, the Gaza Ministry of Health has declared a state of emergency. There are currently reports of some injured Islamic Jihad militiamen in an airstrike in Khan Yunes, south of Gaza.

Business area strengthened –

The Israeli army had already decided in the past few hours to increase the deployment of its troops around the Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Yair Lapid met with security officials at the army headquarters in Tel Aviv and decided to arm the Gaza Division with artillery, infantry, armored troops and special forces.

Lapid: “Deployment due to concrete threat” –

Confirming the targets hit in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid stated that “this is an operation to eliminate a concrete threat against Israeli citizens and in areas near Gaza. The Israeli government will not allow terrorists to threaten citizens. Anyone who tries to meet us know we will reach him,” he said.

The capture of the jihad leader –

On August 3, an Israeli special forces unit arrested Bassen al-Saadi, the leader of Islamic Jihad in the West Bank, and surprised him during a late-night visit to his family in the Jenin refugee camp. And on that occasion, the military wing of Islamic Jihad reacted firmly, declaring: “Israel is responsible for its own life. It will pay a heavy price if it is martyred.”
