A member of the Iranian regime’s ideological army was shot dead in Tehran on Sunday, May 22, during an attack by two motorcyclists on the street. The Revolutionary Guards say it was a colonel. His name was Sayyad Khodai.

Sayyad Khodai was shot five times in an attack in Tehran around 16:00 (11:30 GMT) on Sunday. “Near his house,” says the Tasnim agency.

The Irna agency published photos showing a man covered in blood in the driver’s seat of a car with broken windows. She tells the following facts.

Sayyad Khodaï, a defender of the shrine, was killed in an armed attack by two motorcyclists on Mojahedin-é Eslam Street in Tehran.

The term “Sanctuary Defender” refers to anyone working on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iraq and Syria.

Colonel in the Iranian Ideological Army

The Revolutionary Guards responded in a press release, saying the victim had the rank of colonel and an investigation was underway to identify “the assailant or assailants”.

The Guardians denounce an “act of terrorism”; the work, they say, of elements “connected to global arrogance,” including the United States and its allies.

Several targeted assassinations have taken place in Iran in recent years, but they have been directed against scientists linked to Iran’s nuclear program. These attacks have all been attributed to Israel by the Iranian regime.
