Iran looking for a Russian security umbrella

ANALYSIS – The two countries are multiplying signs of military rapprochement with their common enemy: the West.

Overcoming a mutual distrust inscribed in history, thanks to the war in Ukraine, Iran and Russia have multiplied signs of military rapprochement in the face of their common enemy, the West, which has created two pariah states: Tehran for its nuclear ambitions, and Moscow for its aggression against its neighbor.

After delivering hundreds of armed Shahed and Mohajer drones with Austrian engines to Russia and sending instructors to Crimea to help the Russians operate Iranian systems, the Islamic Republic reportedly agreed to deliver hundreds of ground-to-ground -Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar with a range of 300 and 700 kilometers respectively, according to the Soufan Group, an American consultancy. The first deliveries started at the end of October.
