In Valera, an oasis of well-being for Venezuela

Valera, Venezuela.-In the heart of the western Venezuelan highlands, the city of Valera is an oasis. This beautiful and cosmopolitan city in the state of Trujillo welcomes a large group of workers from the Cuban Medical Mission.
Among them, the 31 specialists of the Comprehensive Diagnostic Center “José Gregorio Hernández”, led by Dr. Dariska Luis Ferrer out of Guantanamo.
The facility has clinical laboratory, imaging, ophthalmology, emergency consultations and respiratory services, as well as hospital and critical care rooms. In addition, it has a comprehensive rehabilitation room, a dental office and 4 popular doctor’s offices.
according to dr Dariska is a daily challenge for the Cuban doctors of this CDI in Valera, as they work to honor the name of the distinguished José Gregorio Hernández from Trujillo, father of Venezuelan experimental medicine and blessing of the Catholic Church. All this in addition to the attention of more than 90,000 potential patients, most of whom are exposed to chronic non-communicable diseases.
Arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma predominate, particularly aggravated by the eating and living habits of Venezuelans. A diet high in flour and fat, as preferred here, is an important risk factor for these diseases.
In the hardest moments of the fight against Covid 19, the CDI José Gregorio Hernández and his specialists have been the best guardians of Trujillo’s health. For this, these 31 Cuban collaborators received the recognition of Mission Barrio Adentro and the daily gratitude of their patients.
Thanks to an unfailing mix of quality care and human sensitivity, the CDI “José Gregorio Hernández” is the true oasis of health in Valera, one of the most beautiful cities in the Venezuelan state of Trujillo.
