Dinnertime with Julie Snyder

Personalities who launch their food ranges are not new and the result is not always happy. That’s why we weren’t convinced beforehand when we found out that Julie Snyder is bringing a series of the same name to the shelves. But it’s clear that the producer and presenter did everything right, aided by her business partners Amélie Léger and Marie-Pierre Gaudreault. Products are all vegetarian or vegan, with a strong desire to offer healthy, easy-to-cook options with a short list of ingredients and no artificial flavors. The variety is great: tofu and tofu spreads, peanut or almond butter, sauces (vegan bolognese, vegan tofu or ricotta lime, our favorite), olive oil and vinaigrettes, our favorite, especially the Caesar Lemony, very tasty. A good and healthy choice, made in Quebec too!

Mama Shrub is ready to drink

Apple cider vinegar is popular and many benefits are attributed to it, such as: B. supporting digestion and regulating blood sugar. But no one wants to drink from a spoon. New Quebec brand Mama Shrub (by Alimentation Biodev) has made it the main ingredient in their 100% natural and organic fizzy drinks. The ready-to-drink drink is obtained from a “bush”, that is, a sour syrup obtained from a maceration of fruit, sugar and vinegar, here with cider to which sparkling water is simply added. It is very low in calories (between 35 and 50 calories per can), very thirst quenching and the vinegar taste is subtle. Even the 7-year-old son took to the four flavors on offer: raspberry and lavender, strawberry and pink pepper, ginger and lime, grapefruit and rose water. To enjoy as is or to incorporate into your summer cocktails, taking inspiration from the recipes offered on the site.

A leap into the Middle East and North Africa

For recipe ideas, visit the Al’Fez website.

With Al’Fez products, you can let your taste buds travel to the Middle East or North Africa quickly and easily. Recently launched in Quebec, the British brand offers a range of different products inspired by the stalls of the souks. Shawarma or Shish Taouk marinades are ideal for flavoring meat. They turn out very tasty without being too spicy. Al’Fez also includes sauces, harissa paste, tahini and sets of side dishes, such as couscous. Most of these products are vegan. We especially loved the Lebanese-style falafel mix, which makes chickpea balls in just five minutes without a food processor. Fewer dishes on a weekday, that’s joy! However, we would have liked the mixture to contain less salt.
