In Laval, three weapons were confiscated and a 20-year-old man arrested

Laval police last week seized a 20-year-old man and three firearms in an attempt to stem the phenomenon of urban violence on their territory.

Defendant Mac Ahern was arrested on January 12 and faces a charge of gun possession. He will remain in detention pending his appearance.

Following violent incidents on Laval territory, the Laval Police Department (SPL) had obtained a search warrant aimed at a house in the Sainte-Rose neighborhood.

On the spot, his agents confiscated three firearms and about fifty ammunition. They also found narcotics and nearly $5,000 in cash.

“This operation reaffirms the SPL’s commitment to combating urban violence related to firearms, thereby reducing rampant crime in Laval,” police said in a press release.

Since the beginning of the year, the SPL has disposed of six firearms and arrested three people directly or indirectly linked to the events, including the latter.

Mac Ahern’s case will be referred back to the Quebec Court on January 24.
