The son of veteran Congress leader and former Kerala Prime Minister AK Antony, Anil, resigned from all his posts in the party on Wednesday after his tweet against the controversial BBC documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots was widely shared.
Anil Antony announced his retirement via a tweet saying that he had received “intolerant calls” to retract his tweet against the documentary and the “wall of hate/abuse” on Facebook over the same issue caused him to cancel the To make a decision. Anil tweeted on Tuesday that despite major disagreements with the BJP, those who support and represent the views of the British broadcaster and former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw are the “brains behind the Iraq war” (involving the US-led coalition in the year 2003) set a dangerous precedent against Indian institutions.
