"I’m Maddie McCann" : Young woman claims missing, parents demand DNA test

On May 3, 2007, the parents of Maddie McCann enjoy their holidays in a resort in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Little Maddie, then 4 years old, sleeps peacefully in her room. But when the parents return, Madeleine has disappeared.

A case that has been teasing the English tabloids for 15 years. And above all, an investigation that is faltering. But maybe not for much longer. In fact, the investigators have their sights on Christian Brueckner. A 45-year-old German man who has previously been convicted of sexual assault and is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence in Germany. Brueckner was in Praia da Luz at the time of Maddie’s kidnapping.

But for a few days it’s another piece of information that’s moving the media around the world. In fact, a young woman claims to be Maddie McCann.

Julia Wendellwho currently resides in PolandShe claims to be Madeleine. At least that’s what she announced loudly and clearly on Instagram, her account “iammadelemcan” (“I’m Madeleine McCann”) has now exceeded the mark of 700,000 subscribers. In support of her statements, she cites two “evidences”: freckles, but also a much more distinctive spot on the right eye. Well… Julia Wendell is 21, and Maddie shouldn’t be until 19. But on the other hand, the young woman says that she may have been mistaken about her age.

She also says she can do a DNA test if parents request it. And this is the case. According to Marca, Maddie’s family are demanding this concrete proof.

On social media, Julia Faustyna, a 21-year-old Polish woman, claims to be Maddie McCann, a British woman who was kidnapped in Portugal in 2007 at the age of 4. The young woman asks for a DNA test.
