That’s all, The Island of Love season 3 has come to an end as the couple of Lorie and Hugo were crowned winners in the finale which aired May 25th. The duo, who have been capturing the hearts of audiences over the past few weeks, were joined by finalists Raphaël and Skye, Cedric and Bianka, and Enya and Kevin ahead of their title win.
Remember that during the very first flame ceremony, Hugo was the only boy who volunteered for Lorie, but the pair had quickly explored other connections. The latter had decided to live part of the adventure with Gabriele, while Hugo entered into a relationship with Kim.
It doesn’t take long before the two get back together to complete the adventure together. Back in their little routine in Quebec, Narcity sat down with the winning duo to talk about learning more about their impressions and journey on the show.
Lorie, if Hugo hadn’t reached out, which boy would you have chosen?
“Physically I could have faced Édouard but Hugo really caught my eye. »
Why didn’t things work out between you at first?
Lorie: “For me it’s because I only saw Hugo the clown, nothing but Hugo who was silly, Hugo who spoke on the surface. I wanted something a little more serious and it seems I didn’t see it. That’s why I opened my doors and I [suis] went to see the others [pour voir] if it works. »
Hugo: “That’s also because I didn’t quite agree with you. »
Lorie: “Also because he didn’t agree with me, and I think so [c’était] At the beginning it’s still normal that we go there and check our options. »
Hugo: “We certainly would have stayed together with Lorie at the beginning, but at the beginning I wasn’t sure, she showed her side that she wanted to manage and she wanted a gentle guy. The more I learned to relate to Lorie, the more I realized that she was caring, that she cared about everyone, that she was a little mom. »
Hugo, why didn’t it work out with Kim?
“I had doubts about Kim and her interests in me and me and Lorie, we wanted to talk in French the whole time, so I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m going back with my ex.’ »
Do you think Kim was strategic when she came back to you after her date with Cedric?
“I don’t think it was a strategy, I think she just saw that Ced didn’t go for her, so she reached out to me because I piqued her second interest, you could say.” It’s sure she’s on the adventure, living the adventure, so it’s sure she was trying to play her cards to maybe get me back.
“It’s normal, I don’t think it’s a big strategy, it’s just that maybe she wanted to stay in the villa. I think what Kim liked is that after that she saw how I was with Lorie, my side was a bit more sensitive, I took care of Lorie so I think she liked that. »
were you sure you were winning?
Lorie: “Villa told us, ‘You’re going to win, you’re going to win’, but we also didn’t dare to say 100% to each other, because that’s for sure, if I were to tell myself in my head that I would.” bin.” We would win and that didn’t happen, we would be disappointed. However, we didn’t know what the public thought of us and how they found us. So we really couldn’t know, but our couple and Enya and Kevin’s couple, I think we definitely had good odds, but at that point we really didn’t know. »
Hugo: “It is certain that we would win if the vote took place inside the villa, but when voting outside the villa, the public, we had no idea how they perceived us. »
What is your current relationship status?
Hugo: “As we said on the show, we’re not just a couple from the island of love, we’re a couple off of it. »
Lorie: “We haven’t let go since we left, we’re still together. »
What are you going to do with the $50,000 prize money?
Lorie: “For me, it’s all about my studies in nursing and aesthetics. It’s not bad, but we’ll see over time. »
Hugo: “I don’t know yet, we’ll still be bubbling over that. »
