Mexico City, September 28.- The tenth Ibero-American Museums Meeting (EIM) ends today after two days of sessions at the National Museums of Anthropology and History, Castillo de Chapultepec, in this capital.

The event takes place as part of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (Mondiacult) 2022 and provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of these spaces for social cohesion, heritage preservation and memory.

The EIM met under the motto “The Urgent Museum: Action for a Sustainable Future” and its program included more than 20 reflection, suggestion and action activities led by more than 50 experts from the region.

Each day included conferences, exchanges of experiences, panel discussions, talks and workshops by Ibero-American professionals specialized in the subject, including the director and founder of the Foundation Theory and Practice of the Arts, the Argentine Américo Castilla.

The Portuguese Paulo Pires do Vale, on the other hand, gave a lecture on the benefits and disadvantages of museums for life. The President of the National Heritage Council of Cuba, Virgen Pérez, also took part in one of the panels.

The meeting, which is also part of the government meeting of the representatives of the 22 countries in the region, revolves around four axes: museums and community: the social and educational role; and Decolonization and Museological Heritage: New Incidents in the Face of Historical Challenges.

The other two were Reconfiguring Action: Ways of Doing and Technologies for Sustainability; and Cultural Rights for a More Sustainable Society: Gender Perspective and Inclusion.
