The Quebecer didn’t make a single appearance on the ice, having been sanctioned by Martin St-Louis for being late for a team briefing.

“It wasn’t an easy day. I missed the meeting because I was two minutes late. This is my ninth year in the NHL and it has never happened in my career. It’s a shame what’s happening, especially in Tampa. I live on with that and have the support of my teammates.

Drouin added that he made every effort to be there in time after a late awakening, but that he narrowly missed the start of the meeting.

“I didn’t even hear my dial. I ran to get there in time, but I wasn’t lucky. I just arrived two minutes late.”

For his part, Martin St-Louis assured that the file was now closed and that he had nothing against Jonathan Drouin.

“I get to know him and have a very good relationship with him. He’s a guy I really like. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one. He understands that and will show up on Monday.”
