HUNDREDS of people dressed as Kate Bush from her music video for the song Wuthering Heights descended on a sly, windswept Dublin park on Saturday.

Wuthering Heights Day Dublin 2022 – also known as The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever – took place at Fairview Park in the Irish capital and returned after a three-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

The event celebrates Bush’s 1978 debut single and sees fans reenacting her dance from the music video while wearing similarly eye-catching red outfits.

Both the song and dance were inspired by Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel Wuthering Heights, which chronicles the tumultuous relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw.

The event is one of several held annually around the world on July 30, the birthday of Bush and Brontë.

The first such event, The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience, took place in Brighton in 2013, organized by theater dance group Shambush!

It inspired other Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever events around the world including Ireland, UK, USA, Australia, Germany and many more.

Saturday’s event in Dublin was organized by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis.

A registration fee of €5 covers insurance and additional costs, the remaining money is donated to Women’s Aid.

This year’s event raised €3,000 for the organization which has been working to end domestic violence against women and children in Ireland since 1974.

The day started at 1pm with a group rehearsal, performance and picnic.

Written by Bush when he was just 18, Wuthering Heights reached #1 in several countries including the UK and Ireland.

After a critically acclaimed career, the second-generation Irish singer topped the charts in both countries for a second time earlier this year with “Running Up That Hill.”

Originally released in 1985, the song has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity after being featured in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.
