The one-story building was completely destroyed after the flames quickly engulfed everything, trapping many people inside. “The fire quickly spread to the ceiling. I saw people trying to break through the glass walls but they were too thick,” a witness told CNN, revealing that the club’s front door got stuck as the crowd tried to escape.
Local police said the fire started during a live music performance and that all of the dead were Thai nationals, including the youngest, 17 years old.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are now underway, but rescue workers say combustible material on the walls caused the flames to spiral out of control in moments.
