How many horses do you see in this picture? See if you got it right!

Illusion tests are important because they help us understand how the brain processes and interprets visual information. They show how the brain can be tricked and how expectations and beliefs can affect perception.

It’s important to remember that optical illusion tests exercise parts of the brain associated with cognition. Some of these are our observation, discernment, and ability to perceive different shapes and objects. In addition, it is an excellent stimulant for our concentration.

With all that is at stake, running a test is always a challenge. And even more so when you make one like the one below where there is an illusion within the illusion itself.

Note below a painting by American artist Bev Doolittle. She is known worldwide for her watercolor art and paintings depicting the natural world of the United States with its fauna, flora, reliefs and lush landscapes. In this painting we will observe that the artist intentionally created an illusion of illusion.

If you’ve seen three horses in camouflage, congratulations. If you haven’t found one, you have one more chance.

Found five camouflaged horses?

If those who didn’t find any before have now found all three, congratulations. Your cognitive abilities are up to date.

But for those who found five horses this second time, wow! You managed to test your perception further by hitting the optical illusion. How challenging, huh!

Usually people find three horses. The three in the center of the painting. Only there are actually five because there is a smaller one, a puppy, on the right side of the picture. And another, larger one, just to the left of the painting, as if it has moved away from the others.
