How Apple makes life difficult for Apple TV users without an iPhone

The new Apple TV 4K Terms of Service can only be accepted by an iPhone or iPad. Users who don’t have one will be blocked with no alternative solution. Luckily there is a parade…

Do you use an Apple TV without owning other Apple devices? What a fun idea! That’s what Apple engineers might have said to themselves when they released an update to the device’s Terms of Service on the Apple TV 4K. Because to be able to accept these new rules, Apple’s TV box users have only been offered two options, with no other alternative: do it from an iPhone… or an iPad!

No iPhone, no Apple TV

Once again, Apple seems unaware that some users of its TV box don’t have other devices from the brand. However, this case is not exceptional. And he once again emphasizes the fact that Apple, with its very closed policy, harms the proper use of its products. Because for Apple TV 4K users, the deployment of this update has thrown them into a very complicated situation. Without an iPhone or iPad signed into the same iCloud account to accept these new Terms of Service, the Apple TV will remain frozen on this update screen, without users being able to use the device. This happened to one of them who was moved by it on Twitter.

“I have an Apple TV. I don’t own any other Apple device. not one. Every time I start Apple TV I get this message. @Apple what do you want to do with it? Chris, an Apple TV user stuck with this problem, Apple said.

A solution to work around the problem

Luckily for him, after contacting Apple support, the Apple TV team provided explanations on how to work around the issue. If you’re stuck on your Apple TV this way because you don’t have another Apple device handy, all you have to do is go to Settings to disconnect your iCloud account. You’ll then need to reconnect your iCloud account, which essentially allows you to view and validate the Terms of Service directly on your Apple TV without having to use a third-party Apple device.
