Hezbollah leader stresses Lebanon’s rights on its borders

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah stressed the resistance’s commitment to the national right to defend its borders, and Lebanon today woke up to a glimpse of maritime demarcation with Israel.

At the laying of the foundation stone for the Janta complex in the eastern Bekaa region, Nasrallah assured that if the Lebanese state received its demands in the dispute with Tel Aviv, it would remain calm, otherwise there would be an escalation.

Speaking about the activities marking the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Lebanese resistance, the Hezbollah leader clarified that the country’s demand for its maritime border rights had nothing to do with the Iran nuclear deal.

The top figure of the resistance stressed that Lebanon must be bet on the Karisch gas field, the border and the US mediator in the dispute, Amos Hochstein, “who keeps wasting time and that time is getting shorter and shorter.”

Nasrallah addressed the country’s economic situation, noting that the tariff dollar being discussed represents a large and damaging jump; Meanwhile, he insisted on the need to continue efforts to form a new government in the country.

The Nation of Cedars is expecting the return of diplomat Hochstein to Beirut later this month, who is due to come up with a proposal after exchanges with Israeli sources.

In early August, the Lebanese state reminded the US mediator of its right to the maritime border by setting out its position in relation to the Qana field, a disputed oil and gas-rich area of around 860 square kilometers.

In the general perception, the Lebanese consider the possibility of investing at the sea border and developing oil and gas as a fundamental aspect to save the country from the economic and financial crisis.
