Dentist, software architect, iOS developer, CFO… The newspaper Get your hands on the select club of 10 jobs advertising over $100,000 a year in Quebec.
First up is the dentist profession, with an average salary of more than $155,344, according to data compiled by Indeed for Le Journal.
“It was very difficult to study, but it’s a little bit like five years of his life,” says Carol Esper, a 26-year-old dentist who has been in the profession for four months.
In addition to a good living, the young dentist likes the profession for her stable schedule, which allows her to pursue a low-stress job, according to her own statements.
“I have three dentist uncles. I also have maybe four or five cousins of dentists, so I really got involved with dentists,” says the one who works at the Cartier Dental Clinic, which is owned by dentist Nasim Attaran.
A week ago, the Institut du Québec’s 2022 employment report indicated that job creation between December 2019 and December 2022 was marked in “full-time and well-paid” jobs.
It specifically noted that workers earning $30 an hour or more are those who have benefited the most (+531,900; +43%).
“In contrast, during the December 2021-December 2022 period, the largest job losses were among workers paying $20 an hour and below (-465,500, -40%),” she noted.
Tech domination
However, Indeed’s list of the 10 Highest Paying Postings in Quebec shows that 70% of jobs are technology related.
Data technicians, software technicians, iOS developers (see table) … the explosive demand continues to fuel the job search.
“Despite the bad news about job cuts in the United States, there are many companies here that need talent,” states Stepan Arman, senior director of sales, Quebec, at Indeed.
“It remains a sector that will be in short supply forever,” he stresses.
According to Jérôme Côté, CHRP, Partner at Normandin Beaudry, the increase in applications of all kinds since the pandemic has boosted demand.
“There are candidates who go into business for themselves to offer their skills to the highest bidder. They can charge $100 or $200 an hour. A lot more stays in their pockets,” he says.

Among the selected 10 popular jobs we also find that of finance director, which is not surprising, Komlan Sedzro, dean of the School of Management Sciences (ESG) at UQAM.
“There is a need in all areas,” he says. Climate finance, sustainable finance… the profession is opening up, he says.
In addition, advertised jobs also offer attractive salaries, e.g. B. Specialized mechanics at almost $115,000 per year or service truck electricians at up to $86 per hour.
Massage therapist jobs that can reach $69 an hour are also posted on Indeed. With a college diploma (DEC) in hand, controller positions starting at $100,000 are also available.
