Ms. Tassi, who recently requested a reduction in her workload to care for a sick person in her family, will take over Ms. Jaczek’s responsibilities at the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

Markham-Stouffville MP Helena Jaczek was sworn in this morning after a brief ceremony at Rideau Hall in the presence of Canada’s Governor General Mary Simons and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Helena Jaczek, former Health Secretary (2018) under Kathleen Wynne’s government, entered the House of Commons in 2019 by winning the Markham-Stouffville race, where former Liberal MP Jane Philpott was named an independent after being ousted from cabinet with Jody Wilson -Raybould ran for office in connection with SNC’s Lavalin affair.

The mini-shuffle comes a week before a Liberal cabinet resignation in Vancouver and a month before the House of Commons resumes.

Earlier last year, my husband suffered two strokes, Minister Filomena Tassi said. As anyone whose family has had a similar experience knows, stroke care can be complex and full of uncertainty. That is why I met with the Prime Minister last month to discuss how I can balance the needs of my family with the travel I have to make as Minister for Public Services and Procurement.

“I would like to thank the Prime Minister for viewing my situation as a challenge to be managed and resolved, rather than a choice to be made between family and public service. »

Filomena Tassi has been employed in the Trudeau government for the past few months. In particular, his ministry has been responsible for buying millions of booster doses of the various vaccines against COVID-19.

She has also worked to modernize government procurement processes, encourage green procurement and increase the diversity of government contracts, Justin Trudeau’s cabinet says.

First elected under the Liberal banner in the Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas race in 2015, Filomena Tassi was promoted to Cabinet as Minister for Senior Citizens and then Labor Secretary. After the 2021 election, Justin Trudeau appointed her Minister for Public Services and Procurement.
