HBO Max’s new owner, Warner Bros. Discovery, has recently played fast and loose with content on the streaming service in the wake of the aftermath of the chaotic mega-merger. Though it’s pulled shows and movies from the service to save money — and even canceled late-stage projects — it’s trying to mend lost subscriptions by offering a new deal to win subscribers.

New and returning subscribers get 30 percent off a year’s subscription to HBO Max when they sign up and prepay all year through October 30th. This brings the ad-free plan down to $104.99 instead of $149.99 for the year (equivalent to $8.75 per month), and the ad-supported plan goes from $99.99 to $69.99 (equivalent to $5.83 per month). It might be an obvious attempt to lock people down for an entire year, but it covers next week’s premiere and season run of Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon and more — at least what hasn’t been canceled yet.
