Okay so ^^^that^^^ was an oversimplification (sry Charles) but according to royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti the idea of at least a temporary truce between the Sussexes and the rest of The Firm ahead of King Charles’ coronation this spring is within the realm of possibility – albeit at the “very difficult” end of the spectrum of things that are technically possible.

“I suspect some effort is being made to bring about some form of reconciliation… I think because they don’t want it [family tensions] to take a backseat to what’s going on on this very important day,” he told Us Weekly.
. “Whether that’s possible or not is one thing, and whether it’s permanent is another. Even if they manage to make some form of peace, [it] could be temporary. I think it’s going to be extremely difficult for them as a family – and by extension the nation and the institution – to forgive what happened.”
In particular, Sacerdoti believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s hopes that the royal family will apologize to them for every “wow, that’s messed up” thing they’ve gone public with since their royal departure are a halo The sticking point will be when it comes to long-term peace talks.
“I think Harry and Meghan have said they expect an apology, but I don’t think there are many people who would agree that it’s that due,” Sacerdoti added. “Some of the people inside [Spare]- the King, Queen and Prince of Wales – all come off this book so badly. They get criticized so extensively by Harry, so meanly criticized in passages, that I think they might get very upset about it.”
Apparently, in addition to the usual (and very human) hurt feelings we have to assume are involved for everyone involved, Sacerdoti has suggested that working royals might also have trouble apologizing for essentially constitutional reasons.
“But more importantly, I think maybe they also feel like they just want to stay silent because they don’t want to provoke things like that anymore, which not only hurts them emotionally and personally, it hurts the nation because it’s effectively an attack on.” part of Britain’s constitution,” he explained.
So, yes, the real path to a temporary royal reconciliation sounds incredibly complicated and precarious, but hitting a pause button a la Marshall and Lily in How I Met Your Mother is such a better visualization.
