If you have a Google Pixel 7 or Google Pixel 7 Pro, you can now access the repair guide. Various relatively complex operations are described here that you should not perform yourself if you are not used to them.

Since Wiko was bought by a Chinese company, it has become difficult for France to get “world firsts”. It’s normal, as proud as “People of Frenchness” are, we’re rarely a priority for the big tech brands.
But for once, Google has decided (it’s probably intentional, we’re sure) to give access to an element affecting the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro before the rest of the world, and it hasn’t escaped 9to5Google. This is the repair guide for both phones. The Pixel 6a guide was also released last July.

At the beginning of the manual, a long message warns you:
It is not recommended to repair the device yourself unless you are an adult and have the technical skills to safely repair electronic devices. If you decide to carry out a repair yourself, you assume the risks involved.
Other equally reassuring messages follow: “Opening and/or repairing a device may result in electric shock, fire, injury, damage to the device and other hazards. So take your precautions before jumping on your screwdriver.
The 173-page manual is overly detailed. It contains a large number of tips and even tutorials on replacing parts. This ranges from a simple listing of the necessary equipment to the most diverse manipulations. You can learn how to install the screen, case, motherboard, microphone mounts, battery, cameras, graphite used for cooling, etc.
Google should probably soon publish an official version worldwide. Meanwhile, the French get to enjoy it in their own language a little before everyone else. I’m not sure if this will reassure buyers who have their back glass on the photo unit shattered. From what we have seen in these documents, no procedure is suggested to change this element.
